There is a war inside of me and this has devastated my mind, my body and my soul. I do not know how this came about but I can see that I am a shattered shell of a man who had great promise. I promised, shining promises and they are all in shambles all around me. What happened?  war happened.

For one thing, there is expectations and what is expected of me. I expected much and probably others did too. When that clashed with expediency and being glib and fast, there was bound to be conflict. What am I saying here? Very simply, I was messed up and that is the war that I ignited. Wanting to be good and to change and be different from what I am made the war inevitable. Who won?

What does the mind need to survive? Mind food I guess. It needs mental sustenance of some sort. The mind makes all kinds of thought, thoughts that jump from one topic to another. Some thoughts bring with it strong emotions. Why this is so is a mystery to me but i know that this happens quite often. When there is emotion to push the thought forward then something happens. The thought or idea becomes an ideology and begins to take on a life of its own. The significant thing about this is that the emotions become important players and back up the thought with such fervor that defies logic of reason. Opposing ideas might result in confrontations that might take its toll in terms of suffering. There is no telling what the mind will do when promoting an ideology.

This combination, thought and emotions result in action being taken and changes the face of the world. When a thought enters the mind of a small man and it tells him to become an emperor, the world will have to give up its sons and daughters to the ambitions of this tiny man until he is stopped. This is the danger of thoughts and emotions. What is worse is when this thought is bought by other minds. You would have a conflagration of fevered minds racing out of ontrol and seeking to wear itself out. The same can be said of the lofty ideals of insignificant men who desire to foist their own tiny brain on the brains of everyone and their thoughts are often fatal for many.

There are more invasions than are apparent in daily life. We are constantly being invaded, our bodies  that is, are constantly being attacked and invaded by tiny organisms that seek to make us hosts for their nefarious activities. Bacteria and viruses and everything in between constantly invade our physical bodies and wage war with our antibodies and lymphocytes and macrophages which valiantly protect us from these cellular terrorists whose principal purpose is to destroy the peace and stability of our bodies. Whew!! There must be some very important purpose other than to bring down the human population.

It's a good thing we have developed some pretty good armaments against these microscopic invaders that never seem to run out of mischief. However, the war is far from over, these invaders keep on evolving their own armaments to thwart our own defenses. There still exists breakouts, epidemics and medical crises that keep our researchers on their toes.

Everything in this world is a territory. Animals stake out their territories which they defend vigorously. Even plants colonize new ground by sending their seeds to the wind that carries them to new places. In the natural world, this happens as a matter fo course. With humans, this behavior is  also very evident. Structures of territory and boundaries are strictly observed in times of peace. The same could not be said in times of war. Boundaries are re-written. Sometimes an event is used to provoke an invasion causing territory to be re-drawn.

Who is to say who is right and who is wrong? The Mongols invaded China and stayed. The Vikings came to America but left without a trace because the inhabitants were inhospitable. Now we know from scientific explorations that include DNA mapping that our forebears left Africa and colonized the rest of the world.

Are we wired for war? Is there a war gene in our very essence? I believe there must be some mechanism for making war that is an integral part of our being. Consider the electron. They do not just whirl merrily around their nucleus. Sometimes they get bumped off and wander aimlessly in seemingly endless space until they themselves find a home in some other orbit. That is, they also dislodge some other hapless electron and take its place. The universe is in constant conflict. Hydrogen atoms gather into a hydrogen cloud and become so packed together with hydrogen atoms that they begin to collide with each other sparking or igniting something very spectacular that may turn out to be a star.

There are free-roaming asteroids in our Solar System, acting pretty much like a gang of young hoodlums, and occasionally slamming into our planet with cataclysmic results for the hapless creatures below. Is this war on the sub-atomic and cosmic levels? What seems obvious is that the concept of peace seems non-existent in the universe as observable phenomena point to conflict as a prevailing theme.
